Recall Readiness Quick Check

MoCRA gave the FDA mandatory recall authority over cosmetics in 2024. Five questions to find out whether your brand could execute a recall in under 24 hours - or whether you would be drafting templates while the timer runs.

  1. 1

    Lot tracking

When a customer order ships, do you know which manufacturing lot is in the box?

If no: a recall would mean emailing every customer with no narrowing.

  2. 2

    Order to lot link

Can you query "which orders contain lot 24-Q3-X427" in less than an hour?

If no: lot tracking exists in spreadsheets that won't survive contact with reality.

  3. 3

    Customer notification template

Do you have a recall notification email template approved by your responsible person?

If no: you are drafting under pressure during a regulatory event. That is when wording mistakes happen.

  4. 4

    FDA reporting workflow

Do you know who, on your team, files the FDA report within 15 business days?

If no: the timer is already running and you are still asking the question.

  5. 5

    PAO and expiry tracking

Do you know which lots in your warehouse will expire in the next 60 days?

If no: you may be shipping product past its Period After Opening, which is its own MoCRA exposure.

What to do next

If you cannot answer "yes" to all five within ten seconds, you are not recall-ready. That is true for most indie beauty brands today, and it is fixable.

Inside BeautyOS, recall readiness is an operational system: lot codes link to orders, customer notification templates are pre-approved, FDA reporting workflow has owners, and PAO tracking is a daily query, not an annual scramble.

We do not write your CPSR or sign off your claims. A regulatory consultant does that. We make sure the operational layer underneath is built so the regulatory partner can do their job in the time the FDA gives them.
